FORESTVILLE, Md. (WJLA) — Police say it all began at the Regency Pointe Apartments, where they approached a suspicious car in a parking lot – and found pot and crack inside.
According to police, the girlfriend of the man in the car let them search the couple’s apartment, and that’s when they found about $5,000 worth of marijuana growing in the bedroom closet.
Neighbors are shocked, and the suspect isn’t talking or defending himself, shutting his door on our reporter when asked questions. Police say he is facing a number of charges, including drug possession and manufacturing.
Residents living near the alleged "grow apartment" were nervous about going on-camera, and one man we are not identifying says that pot has been a huge problem, along with other crimes.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD. (WJZ) — Maryland State Police is continuing to investigate a fatal-pedestrian-related crash that occurred Monday night in Prince George’s County.
After 6:30 p.m. Monday night, troopers from Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack responded to MD 202 at Campus Way in Upper Marlboro, Maryland for a report of a motor vehicle collision that involved one vehicle and two pedestrians.
The pedestrians had just gotten off a metro bus at the bus stop and were walking north crossing MD 202 in the crosswalk when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle, a blue BMW 325i, driven by Jasmine Nicole Jones, 25, of Jessup, Maryland.
The pedestrians were taken by an ambulance to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center.

FORESTVILLE, Md. — Maryland State Police say charges are pending following a fatal crash in Prince George’s County.
Authorities say the crash happened about 11:30 p.m. Thursday on the outer loop of Interstate 495 at Maryland Route 414.
Investigators say an SUV driven by 46-year-old Charles Smith of Bladensburg struck the rear of a Kia sedan. The driver of the Kia, a 40-year-old man, was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Smith and a female passenger were taken to a local hospital, where he was later arrested for assaulting a security guard, disorderly conduct and impeding a criminal investigation.
Authorities say alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
Online court records show that Smith has several arrests for drunken driving and for driving on a suspended license.Read More
