A Riverdale man found dead in the woods on Wednesday died of blunt force trauma, according to Prince George’s County police.
Officers in the 8900 block of New Hampshire Avenue near the Silver Spring area found Herson Mejia-Alverez, 19, about 12:50 p.m., police said. The death was ruled a homicide.

Police are investigating a fatal three-car collision that occurred Thursday night in Seat Pleasant.
The crash, which occurred about 11:30 p.m. at Central Avenue and Addison Road, claimed the life of 30-year-old Forestville resident Mario Baccous, according to Prince George’s County police.
Baccous was driving west on Central Avenue when his car collided with a truck traveling north along Addison Road, police said. The collision caused the truck to strike a second car that was at the stop light.
The truck driver suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and the third driver was uninjured.

The Virginia Tobacco Commission says it will give $6 million in new funds for 27 projects designed to spur job growth in Southwest and Southside Virginia.
The commission approved $2.8 million for workforce development, $2.2 million for education programs and $1 million for a business park development.
The Tobacco Commission was created nearly 20 years ago to spend Virginia’s portion of the national tobacco settlement.
